Within Gwavas Forest, public vehicle access to Makororo Road and Wakarara Road (for Yeomans Track, Ellis Hut and Poutaki Hut) is closed due to logging operations (Monday-Friday). Walking access to Poutaki Hut is open when no active forestry operations are occurring. The roads are open for foot access during weekends (Saturday-Sunday). First published on 28 August 2025.
