Momorangi Campsite

Summer office hours are: Monday to Sunday 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm; and 5:30 pm to 7 pm. Winter office hours are: Monday to Sunday 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm; and 5 pm to 6 pm. Bookings are required. The online kiosk located on the camp office deck is available to campers who have not already made a booking. Once booked, check in at the office during office hours for facility door codes. Cabin check-ins may arrive only during office hours unless otherwise arranged in advance. Bedding and pillows are not available at the property, please bring your own. If the office is closed upon your arrival, and it is after 2 pm you may proceed directly to your campsite. All bathroom codes are now sent out with booking confirmation. Return to check in during open hours. Check-out is by 10 am. DOC rangers may be working on the property in other capacities and able to assist at additional times subject to availability.

All caravans and campervans that require power must have a current Electrical Warrant of Fitness (WOF), which will be checked on arrival. If your Electrical WOF is not current you won't be allowed to connect to power.

The nearest dump stations are 13 km away in Picton, at the NPD Picton Fuelstop and GAS Petrol Service Station. There are also dump stations at the Mobil in both Havelock and Blenheim. Read the full campground rules.

Summer rubbish rules From the 1 December to 31 March: The camp offers free disposal of rubbish at our secure, gated compound. The rubbish compound is open daily from 9.30 am to 10 am and 5 pm to 5.30 pm. No rubbish will be accepted outside of this time. All rubbish must be bagged. No loose rubbish or rubbish in anything other than a bag will be accepted. Any large rubbish items or excessive amounts of rubbish can be taken (at the camper’s cost) to the transfer stations at either Havelock or Picton. DOC staff monitor the rubbish compound at all times. The site is under CCTV surveillance. Summer recycling rules The camp offers free glass bottle recycling only. No other recyclables (for example: paper, cardboard, plastic bottles and cans) will be accepted at the camp. There are free recycling stations at each end of the Queen Charlotte Drive, at Havelock and Picton. Winter rubbish rules From the 1 April to 30 November: Our rubbish trailer will take general rubbish that must be in a bag. No recyclable items to be included in that rubbish. No large items to be put in the trailer. There are areas for flattened cardboard, paper, cans, plastic and glass. We ask that you cooperate with these rules so we can continue to offer this service. People not abiding by these rules may have their booking cancelled.

The on-site shop is no longer operating at Momorangi. The closest options for supplies are The Queen Charlotte Tavern or the Challenge Linkwater service station. Both are less than 10 minutes’ drive towards Havelock. The closest towns are Picton or Havelock.

The stream through the camp is not fenced. Take extra care if you have small children.

Any vehicle with a gross vehicle mass exceeding 3500 kg that is towing over 12.6 meters in length are not permitted, due to major flood damage from storms in August 2022.
